i think so they hav 2 fill a gap in the relation ship so the buy there way through.
It could be the other way around. It could be worse. He's cheating and he needs more money to date/buy gifts for the other so he's cutting back his expenses on you.

If my other half was to started throwing his money at me (he doesnt normally!) I would be very suspicious. sad but true
