Can two people with vastly differing political opinions be true partners?

Or are James Carville and Mary Matalin just freaks of nature? Can two people with vastly differing political opinions be true partners?
Yes they can. My husband and I differ on some things, not all, and we're fine. I have a friend, her husband and her are polar opposites on just about everything. She is Christian and he husband is atheist... I have never seen two people more in love!! It's crazy... you really wouldn't think. If that can work, then certainly two people with different political views can work. Love knows no boundaries. You are always going to find something in the person you love that makes nothing else matter. : )

These opposites I speak of have been together over 20 years!!!!!! I could never imagine a split between the two. They have a simple agreement that won't discuss their personal opinions with one another.. maybe that's a reason it works..

Edit: Make love, not war.. Seriously?? Only immature people act that way. Grown mature adults don't go around hating people on the street and later argueing with one another.. that's ridiculous. Love is much stronger then hate and difference. I would think by your screen name, that you might have that figured out......... Well unless your talking of one thing.. : )Can two people with vastly differing political opinions be true partners?
I think two people with vastly differing political opinions could be good friends. One of my best friends in the world is a conservative and I would be called a ';liberal'; if I lived in the United States. We argue politics but when the chips are down we help each other.

I would not have considered a woman with vastly differing political opinions as a potential life partner (as in wife or girl friend).
opposites do not attract. where does that come from? they collide. i can't see it working....because when it comes to politics/religion, pretty much anything and everything you see on a daily basis can start an argument (from a gay couple walking down the street to who you're voting for in an election)....you could promise each other you wouldn't talk about politics, but it eventually comes up....then again, if it's love, it can conquer even that...i don't talk religion or politics with ANY of my friends because i don't want to know....i really could care less...labels are just another way of dividing people....not to mention, it could change the way i see them....and we respect each other enough to not do it...
possible if their open mind and civil about the matter. Nothing wrong with disagreeing with some doesnt mean we always have to up and arms about it. My friend is devoted catholic and im well I dont know what religion I am and were still good buddies.
my husband is conservative and i am liberal. he is catholic and i am agnostic...we are even from different countries and totally different cultures..i guess you could say we are a little different.
Its a fact that opposites attract. But its also a fact that opposites dont stay together for long.
Arnold (Gov of Cali) is a Republican and his wife Maria is a Democrat
yes but they should avoid talking about politics
Yes, if they can stay away from the news channel.
yes they can if they truly want to.
the best i can come up with is ';Opposites attract';.
