Is it true that if you're gay, your partner isn't allowed to do certain things when you're sick?

I hear things about gay couples not being at each others' sides when one is sick in the hospital because they're not legally married, but what if they both sign a paper with witnesses saying that they are the ones they want? Are there any exceptions to this rule?Is it true that if you're gay, your partner isn't allowed to do certain things when you're sick?
Quite frankly, it is true. I suggest that ALL gay couples go to an attorney and draw up both a Will and an Advanced Directive. These documents can help avoid such a problem. However, I have personally experienced problems with hospital administrators who like to ';lose'; the documents because they disagree with the lifestyle. If you would like to contact an attorney who is experienced in gay/lesbian law, or at least one who is friendly to the GLBT community, you can usually find one in your area. Your local gay/lesbian community center may have a directory of friendly businesses which will contain attorneys in your area. Pride Law or National Lesbian and Gay Lawyers Association may also be able to direct you. You can find their web pages by using Google.

Please keep in mind that this is a HUGE problem for lots of gay couples. There is no absolute ';cure'; for it either. But, there are things you can do to help, and starting with a good attorney who is gay friendly will help.Is it true that if you're gay, your partner isn't allowed to do certain things when you're sick?
You can sign advance directives at the hospital or get a living will naming your partner as the person allowed to make decisions and such. There is a law against discrimination because of sexual orientation, so a hospital cannot legally keep gay couples from visiting in the hospital. They can regualte the hours of visitation if you are in ICU and they have designated visiting hours, but that has nothing to do with being gay.
I believe there is no difference between same sex couples as none married opposite sex couples, if there not legally married there might be restraints, probably not what it used to be, don't forget I once heard say that the Labour Government outlawed gay couples, the conservatives legalised gay relationships and the liberals were going to make it compulsory
